The Texas Real Estate Commission states the following about competency in Real Estate: TREC Rule 531.3
It is the obligation of a license holder to be knowledgeable and competent as a real estate brokerage
practitioner. The license holder must:

  1. be informed on local market issues and conditions affecting real estate in the geographic area where a license
    holder provides services to a client;
  2. be informed on national, state, and local issues and developments in the real estate industry;
  3. exercise judgment and skill in the performance of brokerage activities; and
  4. be educated in the characteristics involved in the specific type of real estate being brokered for others.

This form is your notification of the real estate activities and geographic location that you are permitted to practice
going forward. For the types of real estate activities whether: residential sales or leasing, apartment locating, and/or
commercial sales or leasing, you do NOT have authorization to conduct these types of transactions without direct
authorization from the Broker, or completing the necessary competency training.

Experience Exemption: If you have experience with previous brokerages that has allowed you to achieve competency
with that type of transaction, then you are exempt from training and will receive automatic authorization to conduct the
transaction types for which you have the experience. Please note, you must have completed at least 5 transactions in
the last 2 years in order to receive this exemption.
